Rebecca Fitzgerald, Director of Data at Yorkshire Building Society (YBS), has been announced as the latest speaker to join the line-up for the first ever Silicon Yorkshire Expo, which takes place on Wednesday 19 April from 10am – 2pm at the Everyman Cinema in Leeds.

With more than 25 years’ experience in leadership roles, Rebecca brings complex architectural and technical details into meaningful insights that deliver organisational value for YBS.

Calling upon her expertise, Rebecca will focus on Data Intelligence during her talk at the Silicon Yorkshire Expo, explaining how businesses can make decisions with big data to deliver strategic and transformational outcomes.

With an entrepreneurial mindset, driven by curiosity and personal development, she will also share a more personal account of her career and explain why as an authentic Yorkshire Lass, she is passionate about people, inspiring and creating diverse inclusive and high-performing teams, and an ‘ally for all’.

Rebecca comments: “I’m really looking forward to taking to the stage at the Silicon Yorkshire Expo. As a tech leader from the region, I hope that through sharing my professional experiences with others, we can all learn and evolve together.

“While the focus of my talk will be on big data and how it can be used to deliver transformational outcomes, I am also an ‘ally for all’ with a special focus for neurodiversity, supporting next generation STEM careers and leaders of the future.

“As a key contributor to diversity and inclusion agendas, I really want to take this opportunity to touch upon those topics too.”

Founding Director of Silicon Yorkshire, Geoff Shepherd, comments: “We would like to thank Rebecca for agreeing to speak at the Silicon Yorkshire Expo. We really appreciate her coming along and sharing her thoughts about big data and the impact it can have on business.

“What’s more, with her passion for people and developing culture that makes a difference, we are looking forward to hearing more about how she has become a champion for diversity and inclusivity and what she predicts for next generation STEM careers and the leaders of the future.”

Rebecca will join Paul Jones, Chief Digital Information Officer for the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust; and Bruce Daisley, former VP EMEA of Twitter and two times Sunday Times bestseller, during the Silicon Yorkshire Expo, with further names to be announced over the next week.

As well as the opportunity to hear from leading IT, tech and digital experts, delegates will also receive a free copy of Bruce’s latest book, Fortitude, which asks people to consider if the version of resilience they have been spun is a toxic myth.

Welcoming tech and digital executives from Leeds, Yorkshire and the wider business community, the event is set to spark debate and ignite discussion between more than 250 guests and delegates that are attending on the day.
