Mark Elders
Director, IXBradford
I am supporting Silicon Yorkshire because it is a project which will make Yorkshire the digital powerhouse of the United Kingdom and it sits with my own desire to make a difference. This is a great initiative because it serves to benefit everyone by promoting regional growth and creating jobs. Silicon Yorkshire is going to be something very special!
Mark is a military veteran having served in the Royal Air Force Police for 9 years during the height of the Cold War. He also served in the Falklands War. For the past 20 years he has worked in the ISP industry, from the pioneering times of the late 90’s and early 2000’s, to the present where he plays a major part in the deployment of dark fibre and gigabit services throughout Yorkshire. He is currently a director of IXBradford, a brand new Internet Exchange (IXP) which has been built to serve Bradford and the surrounding areas, and to bring network latency and lag to almost zero so that we can attract the tech giants and global media companies to move into our region. He is also a Director for Legend Telecom who own and operate the data centre in Bradford from where IXBradford operates.
